Parker + Diana: Intimate, Warm, Perfect Sonoma, CA Wedding

Oh, man. How is it possible that P + D tied the knot a year ago?! 365 days ago, my family and I were in Sonoma County, CA, celebrating my brother’s marriage to his perfect lady. Our family grew under perfect sunny skies and through many, many happy tears. Parker is brilliant, kind, joyful, intense, and warm. Diana is calm, observant, sincere, and just plain wonderful. They met in San Francisco after college, (even though they graduated from Cornell the same year) and have been inseparable since. They have traveled the world together and have such a zest for all things outdoors. It was appropriate, then, that they get married under crystal clear skies outside of San Francisco at Olympia’s Valley Estate in Petaluma, CA right on the cusp of fall. The ceremony was moving, food delicious, speeches meaningful, and dancing fun. It was the perfect capture of their love — joyful and fun. What a pleasure it was to work with my brother and new sister-in-law, and I am so grateful for the memories we have yet to form. I love you both!

The day started at their families’ respective Airbnbs, with fabulous food, family, and friends.

Diana’s gown from BHLDN was practically made for her, and Parker opened a sweet wedding gift from his bride.

The couple arrived separately at the Estate for a moving first look.

The wedding party joined them for a few photos on the stunning property while the ceremony set-up was taking shape.

Family photos were really special, too!

The ceremony was set in front of the pond on the property. All of the gorgeous earth-tone, wildflowers were provided by Vanda Floral Design.

The couple chose to write their vows together, and their ceremony was officiated by an old friend. My brother is very musical (his voice is heaven!), so the ceremony featured friends and family singing an Old Celtic Blessing, a duo performing “Love is a Wild Thing”, by Kacey Musgraves, and Diana entered to Ben Rector’s “Extraordinary Magic”. My sisters and I were honored to read "To Love is Not To Possess"  James Kavanaugh, and Diana’s twin read a spectacular piece as well. To say that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house wouldn’t be an overstatement.

Watching couples get married will never get old, but watching your family get married carries a certain kind of magic.

Guests moved to the lawn and porch of the Victorian House where they were treated to delicious signature cocktails and treats by Park Avenue Catering.

We moved to dinner in front of the barn which was absolute perfection. Northern California weather showed UP for these two — it was amazing. And, of course, Stone Fruit Studio managed some of the most gorgeous details for this wedding. As you know, Maureen is a dear friend of mine, and she is a dear friend of my brother’s too. I love the way the geometric shapes found their way across the entire wedding, and Diana’s mother made a stunning quilt to match.

Dinner was delicious, but the speeches were the highlight. Parker’s two best men, childhood friends of his, regaled the crowd with hilarious stories, while Diana’s twin shared some sweet memories of their sisterhood. Both sets of parents shared sweet, silly, and meaningful stories, and my grandparents were honored to speak as well.

Guests then moved into the barn as the sun was setting for dancing. The couple snuck away for a few sunset photos.

We danced the night away. If we’re being honest, I cried like a little baby when my sweet brother danced with my mama. And I LOVED that both members of the couple danced with both parents. You’ll see.

Parker also serenaded his sweet new wife with his college a cappella group — what a treat!

I also owe a huge thank you to Katy at Bravo Events for being our day-of coordinator so that I could relax as a guest. She’s the best — thank you, Katy!

Parker + Diana — I hope that you wake up every day thinking “GAH! We’re married!!” Happy Anniversary, and I wish you many, many more. All my love, your sister xx
