Anisha + Spencer: Cultural, Colorful, Lively Westchester, NY Wedding

Gosh, I can’t believe this joyful day was already a year ago. Anisha + Spencer are college friends of mine, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with them for a few years (thanks, COVID!) to plan their spectacular wedding weekend in Westchester, NY. Anisha + Spencer wanted to fuse their cultures together so they were wed by an Indian Pandit and Protestant Priest, while she wore a traditional lehenga and he donned a spiffy white suit. We continued this theme during their reception by bringing together together an Indian caterer and DJ, Moghul and BWD Entertainment, to complement Greentree Country Club’s fantastic catering and Hyde Park Band. It was a fun, colorful, and perfect sunny Saturday last July. It’s such a joy to relive this day through Salwa Photography’s images — it really was magical. BUT, before we even got to the wedding on Saturday, Anisha + Spencer kicked off the weekend with a traditional Indian Mehndi hosted by Spencer’s parents on Thursday and a lively Sangeet on Friday night. Photos and more about those at the end of the post. Enjoy!

Congratulations, Anisha + Spencer! Love you long time.

Anisha’s day began at the Radisson New Rochelle, where the talented team from Laura Gordon Artistry beautified Anisha and her best ladies. Anisha spent time with her mom and aunties getting dressed into her custom, bright pink lehenga, the traditional Indian wedding attire. She donned a matching veil and intricate gold jewelry to complete her bridal look. Her henna was applied at their Mehndi on Thursday of their wedding week by Henna by Shweta.

Peep the cutest dad first look!

We then traveled over to their venue, Greentree Country Club, for a really, really special first look on the Long Island Sound. After their first look, their stylish wedding party joined them for some stunning group shots.

Meanwhile, the incredible Arcadia Floral Co. team adorned Greentree’s pergola to create a dreamy, floral-forward Mandap for the couple’s ceremony.

Guests began to gather at the front of Greentree Country Club for the traditional Indian Baraat, a celebratory processional to lead the groom, on horseback (or sometimes on an elephant!), to the ceremony. This is a such a festive part of any Indian wedding, complete with live music, a dhol drummer, smoke guns, and a lot of dancing. The Baraat was followed by a Milni ceremony, a unification ceremony of the two sides of the wedding.

Once the Baraat and Milni concluded, guests made their way to the ceremony to watch these two lovebirds (finally!) wed. It was a moving and unique ceremony, with both a Protestant Priest and Indian Pandit presiding.

MARRIED!!!

Guests moved to the neighboring pergola for a Indian spice market themed cocktail hour. Tradition & Trends was the real superstar here, providing and setting up these fantastic rentals to transform the space.

After a glorious cocktail hour, guests moved inside to dine and dance! Arcadia transformed Greentree Country Club’s ballroom with breathtaking arrangements and sweetheart table backdrop. Guests were treated to an array of Western and Indian food, a spectacular first dance, hilarious toasts, and some incredible live music followed by a special surprise from bride to groom…

The bride surprised the groom and all of the guests with a lively dance set by a local Bhangra group. And a few songs in, she jumped in and danced right along with them! It was the highlight of the evening.

Congratulations, you two. Oh, what a night.

If that’s not enough color and joy for you, I’m so pleased to share some images from Anisha + Spencer’s Sangeet — the event on Friday night before the wedding. It is a celebration full of dancing, music, and speeches to celebrate the two families merging. Shenorock Shore Club hosted the spectacular evening. BWD Entertainment emceed and provided the music, while Tradition & Trends transformed the space into a breathtaking dream world.
