Allison + Mike: Intimate, Curated, Loving Chicago Wedding

Allison + Mike were married on a warm September day at the historic Frank Lloyd Wright Emil Bach House surrounded by 60 of their closest friends and family. They chose the Emil Bach House for it’s architecture and intimate setting, of course, but also for its proximity to their Chicago home. It is situated in their neighborhood, cozy Rogers Park, and couples who wed there can rent the home (and its next door neighbor, The Lang House), for the weekend to create an intimate home base for their closest people.

So many elements of their wedding day were beautifully crafted by the couple. Their ceremony was officiated by Liz of Liz Rae & Co and it was deeply humbling to witness. Also, Allison is a true creative and she and I worked together to create a full wedding day design plan that went from the stationery to the linens to the floral by InFlorEscence to the color of their signature cocktails.

It was one of my favorite weddings of 2021, and I am just so thrilled to (finally) share it.

Congratulations, Allison + Mike! - Olivia

Allison’s closest friends joined her on the top floor of the Emil Bach House to get ready with her. Goldust Woman brought Allison’s classic, chic look to life. Her gown from Honey Bridal was just perfect.

After Allison was ready, she met her sweet fiancé for a first look on the first floor of the Emil Bach House. It was an intimate moment (and I may or may not have shed a few tears…!)

Mike looked incredibly handsome in his custom suit from Enzo Custom and the couple was able to spend some time around the historic home capturing some pre-ceremony photos with Joe from Deepwell Photography.

The families got dressed in their beautifully coordinated attire and met the couple for some sweet moments before the ceremony.

And, finally, it was time for these two to wed! Allison’s walk down the aisle was so joyful!

Liz from Liz Rae & Co. officiated a beautifully written ceremony, with quotes from the couple’s favorite books, and they exchanged deeply personal vows. I cried.. a lot. Just overwhelmed with joy for these two!

MARRIED!

After the ceremony, the couple stole away for some photos, reveling in their first few moments as husband and wife. They returned to a transformed lawn for cocktail hour, catered by the incredible Big Delicious Planet.

As a wedding planner who looooooves design and details, this was such a dreamy wedding. Every moment and every piece was thoughtfully curated for maximum guest experience and cohesion. We started off with a mood board and each of these incredible artists helped bring it together: the bride designed the stationery herself (and printed with Steracle Press), and the colors and theme carried through the artful dinner set-up by InFlorEscence. Big Delicious Planet helped us source some rentals and linens from Tablescapes that brought the whole thing together.

Dinner was served by Big Delicious Planet, tunes were provided by Style Matters’ DJ Duke, and the couple brought in a stunning cake by Flavor Supreme and sweet treats from their favorites, The Original Rainbow Cone (part of their first date!).

It was a joyous evening.

Congratulations, Allison + Mike!
