Sarah + Ryan: Bright, Retro, Unique Chicago Wedding

Sarah and Ryan are one of those couples that when you meet them you know it is going to be a good time. When I first met Sarah, she explained that her and Ryan's romance was comparable to that of a Harry met Sally whirlwind type of love.

They met many years back in Chicago's comedy scene doing stand-up comedy together. They went on one date and ended up going their separate ways. Since they both were heavily involved in the comedy scene, they had many mutual friends and saw each other from time to time.

Fast forward to February 2021 when they were hanging out with a mutual friend who strategically decided to give them some alone time. They immediately hit it off, got engaged 7 months later, bought a condo, and tied the knot on a beautiful October day in 2022. With such a supportive and fun-loving community, these two will have a lifetime of love and laughter to come!

Big congratulations, you two! - Kirsten

The day started with Ryan getting ready at the Chicago Athletic Association and Sarah getting ready at their condo in Uptown.  Since they have such a supportive community and started their relationship knowing many of the same people, it was hard for them to narrow down who they wanted to stand up next to them on their special day. They both had 13 friends and family members on their respective sides.

Sarah added a twist on the traditional Maid of Honor and instead of choosing one ahead of time, she drew a name the morning of the wedding and that guest was to be named Maid of Honor at the ceremony. Fashion risks were encouraged by the bride and everyone in the wedding party was able to choose their own outfits. Everyone looked incredible!

The ceremony was held at the Honeycomb in Lincoln Park Zoo. As guests arrived, they were directed to the MagsKappmeyer Inquiry. Sarah and Ryan's very own newspaper that Sarah created to share their love story, the wedding party, and the schedule for the day. The editor-in-chief, their pup Rodeo, had her own section and shared how happy she was that her parents were getting married. Sarah and Ryan's dear friend married them in such a lovely and personal ceremony. Songs were sung, poems were shared, and spoken word was said by their friends. It was a great way to personalize such a special occasion.

After the two said "I Do" it was time to head back to the Chicago Athletic Association to celebrate! Sarah's vision for the reception was 80's prom and boy did this vendor team hit it out of the park. From the bright orange and yellow balloon arch entrance to the table numbers that were personalized records of their favorite  80's albums, it felt like we were on the set of Sixteen Candles which was exactly what they wanted.

The night ended with some delicious Shake Shack bites and sore feet from staying on the dance floor all evening.

Congratulations to Sarah + Ryan, we know your life together will be as fun as your wedding day!
