Alex + Blaise: Timeless, Lush, and Dashing Chicago Wedding
There’s something special about planning a wedding for people who are already part of your history and life. Blaise’s parents introduced my parents to each other at Glasscotts Bar in the 80’s, so really without them I wouldn’t have been here, planning his and Alex’s incredible wedding at all! Funny how life always brings us back together - like a million little invisible strings throughout our daily lives.
This was also the case with Alex + Blaise. Neighbors in Lincoln Park during Covid, it was a pickup softball game that introduced them to each other (and spoiler, where they would share their first look as bride + groom) and they have been together ever since.
Alex + Blaise’s wedding was so unique, so FUN, to plan. Their flair for finding the best vibes possible, their attention to detail, and love of great food and drinks was the perfect combo that created their incredible wedding day that featured so many amazing vendors that came in internationally and locally to build the fabulous, classic, Chicago-centric experience that their guests were enveloped in from the moment they received their invitations in the mail. Who wouldn’t want to spend a Saturday in the city, playing poker, eating italian, and dancing the night away under a Tiffany glass dome? Truly iconic.
Cheers to you, Mr. + Mrs. Davis! For richer, for poorer, and all the fun moments in between - I hope they’re all perfect as your day was.

How do you start an epic day? Quietly, surrounded by your friends and family.
That’s how we started the day for A+B, with the gals at the couple’s condo and the guys at B’s friend's house. Glam with Joey Claeyssen and Kim Nguyen (the best!) began with a relaxed pass of champagne or scotch and laughter filled the spaces between detail photos with Jennifer Moher - a true artist in capturing a day.
Alex’s first look with her dad had hearts swelling, and she was then joined by all her girlfriends for the most amazing reveal of her wedding day look (stunning Anne Barge from Bella Bianca Bridal), which included a peek at the embroidered message from her late mother placed by A’s aunt. No dry eyes today!
After a fun photo-sesh on the stairs, Alex + Blaise were off to their first look, which they shared on the street that they met.
Once we got to Saint Alphonsus and captured family photos (in PERFECT weather - really, it was stunning), B+A popped into S&G’s diner, as they had throughout their relationship, for a bite before their big aisle walk. Something about a dress like that in a diner just screams perfect to me.
Then, it was finally time to tie the knot!
MARRIED!
And ready to head to their party!!!
Now, working with the Life in Bloom team is always a dream, but creating the world that we did, with Brian Kempen’s always keen design eye, was all time.
Together, with the help of Castle Party Planning, we transformed Gar Hall in the Chicago Cultural Center into a casino. Guests were welcomed with an escort card wall made with custom playing cards courtesy of Alphagraphics with their names listed on the front and their table - the card suite - on the back.
A jazz trio serenaded them as they entered the space, and incredible cocktails and hors devours from Hearty Boys were passed through.
It felt like we were transported to another, more fabulous and classy, world - one that Alex + Blaise created just for their guests to enjoy!
And don’t worry, we found a pocket of time for A+B to take a break among the CCC architecture too!
Their reception in Preston Bradley Hall filled the space with lush florals and gilded details, all set for the perfect 4 course Italian feast from Hearty Boys, complete with tunes by Funktastic Productions.
We brought bits of our cocktail hour vibe into this moment like our playing card table numbers and custom match books, but wanted to create a different atmosphere for the rest of the evening that matched the already ornate walls and finishes of the Cultural Center. Really, we’ll never be over the sweetheart table arch either. To die!
Grand entrances were made, speeches were given, and the night carried on with a glow you could feel vibrate throughout the room. Toasts were given throughout dinner - the true sign of a good time - and that night, every single person felt like family.
A+B shared dances with their parents and an impressive first dance with each other, complete with lifts and dips that blew the roof off the Cultural Center with cheers from their loved ones before the Funktastic crew let it rip.
We’re now convinced that no wedding is complete without a beer cart entrance and game of Thunderstruck, too.
Congratulations, Alex + Blaise! You two know how to throw an incredible party and we were so thrilled to be part of bringing it to life!
